BACK !!

Well I am back !!!!!!
Back from my India trip… phew !!!
If that sounds like I feel relieved, then it’s true.
I spent my whole so called vacation visiting so many people that it felt like a chore and definitely not a vacation. As it is, it was a really short visit and was majorly spent in autos and cars and taxis…..grrrrrrrr
I have a hangover because instead of a break I had 2 even more hectic weeks….

But had some really good moments too……
Mom pampered me to near death….. Forget about lending a helping hand to mom, she did not even let me wash my own plates …….absolute bliss!!
Caught up with one of my cousins came in from Japan after ages.
Few of my friends made me feel really special because they came down from Pune just to meet me and spend time with me. Gosh….. Was I flattered….
BH’s friends all landed the day we were traveling back to Dubai and we all had some great time at our home.
Did some shopping…. not to the extent I wanted to do…but nevertheless managed to do some.
Bought a few books…..so you will find book and author reviews coming in as soon as I find time to finish the books. All the books are from authors I have never read before. So am excited
Apologies to a few friends with whom I had made plans of getting a Fish Pedicure together…. I couldn’t even meet or call them.
Have to say that one friend who is very angry on FB because I din meet him surprised me….. I din know he wanted to meet me so bad considering he had not bothered to be in contact at all for past few years…..Friends are strange.. but that’s exactly why they are MY friends lol…. Need to call him soon….real soon… or I will be EB’ed to death.

All in all I can’t wait for my next India trip.

Losing Inches Disaster

well...... the title says everything... doesn't it ???????
I failed miserably.....
The good part is I have many circumstances to blame (clichéd but true)

  • Office Technical Event hosted in Atlantis (how can anyone expect me to be on diet and watch everyone hog on the amazing food in Atlantis for 2 whole days)
  • Meeting up friends from India in Dubai (friends biting into Pizza and me having just salad??? well thats tough)
  • and me having Migraine attack, fuming BH making me stuff myself with proper food.

Well for now I am going to India... which means I don't have to cook to feed my tummy....YESSSSSS I am going to India for 2 weeks... cannot be happier :)
Gonna eat and eat and eat mom and mom in-laws food. Cannot wait to go home.
Yes India still feels like home, Dubai seems like a hostel but with hubby lols.
So all the dieting postponed till I am back from India.

Hair Care Scare

I wanted to buy a decent nice shampoo which serve purposes like remove oil from my hair and give my hair a smooth and silky look.
Now when I go to the hair products section I start getting all worked up because of the options of the brands and further within the brand.
I mean we have anti hair fall, full and thick, curly, coloured, smooth and silky, black shine, anti dandruff etc... It’s completely a WTF situation.
Doesn’t anti hair fall mean there will be less hair fall hence you will have full and thick hair???
When you don't have dandruff doesn't your hair fall reduce automatically??
Does anyone want hair which is not smooth or silky???
I mean why why why why so many options???
and what the hell does it actually mean... :(

The water in Dubai is not helping, so there is a major deforestation happening on my head. Why the hell is maintaining those strands on your scalp so bloody difficult. Gosh.... and then you have all that unwanted body hair which you shave/ wax and still pop up religiously every month.
I used Dove shampoo for ages (before they came up with pink, white and 2 blue shades bottles). Combination of Dubai water and Dove doesn't seem to work on my head so now I have shampoo bottles of anti dandruff, anti hair fall and full and thick… yes all 3 of them to the dismay of BH and I use whichever comes into my hand each day.....

I want one anti dandruff shampoo for smooth and silky thick black hair.

Losing Inches

I don’t really care about how much I weigh but I very much care about the size of clothes I fit into. I am the kind who would be happy even if I weigh like 90 kgs but fit into an M size top :)
So after moving to Dubai I seem to have moved to size L in 5 months and have stopped fitting into most of my clothes which is totally unacceptable.
I am planning to visit Mumbai by this month end and I have to have to come back to size M. I don’t seem to get out of CCM (Currency Conversion Mode) so I find everything expensive in Dubai. So one of my major activity in Mumbai is shopping (clothes, shoes, bags, cosmetics, accessories everything) and I want to shop for clothes in size M.
I have decided to try getting back to size M before I go home. I am going to mention my plan here so I will be motivated to follow it so I can update my blog about it :)
  • 5 days GM diet plan
  • Jogging everyday for 30 min
  • 250 – 500 Skipping everyday
  • Of course no sweet or oily food.
My aim is as below in order:
  1. To fit into a brown striped top I love.
  2. To fit into my fav LWJ (low waist jeans)
  3. To fit into the green and white salwar kameez
  4. To fit into the Obe Cargos which I have kept thinking I will wear once I lose inches.
Next update on 10th April.

WE WON THE BLOODY WORLD CUP !!!!!!!!

What a perfect time for Dhoni to come up and play the true captains knock.....
The sixer to finish the game with balls to spare... amazing.,,
Kudos to Gambhir to have played that amazing 97 under pressure. Though I really wish he had got his 100....
Sachin's smile on his way running out to meet his team who helped him clinch the WC...
Tears of joy from Bhajji and Yuvi....
Virat and Pathan carrying Sachin around the field....
Everyone dedicating this WC to Sachin.....

All in All....Wonderful, scrumptious, fantabulous World Cup series.

We WON !!!!!!

YAY !!!!! we won...
I simply cannot get over it... have been saying this over and over and over.
All of us Indians in office were seen searching for Pakistani colleagues... hey just to make sure they are not too depressed...For some unknown reason, the vision of few grinning like idiots Indian din seem to help them at all...
Everyone in office knows we won... (Even people who wanted to know how many rounds of bowling you do to win... yes I was asked this)
Amazing match.... Loved every moment...
It had everything you look for in an India-Pak cricket match: the tension, the wickets, gut wrenching moments, praying moments and of course THE WIN.
I don’t think any team has given Sachin so many lives and I would like to thank them.
Saw a comment online that said “One more drop and Sachin should 'walk”.

Me and BH did a very long victory dance ( read chapri/ tapori dance) after which BH said :
- Sorry Afridi, you will have to wait another 4 years to try defeating us in WC.
- Man of the Match should be awarded to Pak fielders
- Manmohan Singh must be thinking " Gilani ko yahan bulake c** banaya... bada maza aaya..."

India can win the finals, but for most of us our final is over and done with. Somehow the disappointment will be much less if India were to lose the finals than the one we would have if we had lost to Pak.
Weird game cricket... makes me weirder.
YYYIIIIIIPPPPPIIIIIEEEEEEE WE WON !!!!!!!!!
P.S: I dont wanna even reread what I have written. Its direct DIL SE with the typos bec of the excitement.

Attitude

I was listening to radio after long and heard the song "mere khayalon ki mallika" from Josh. Abhijeet's voice sounded so beautiful. He has an amazing voice and it feels as if he puts his heart in every song. Seriously Dil se gaata hai banda :)
And I miss him now, I want him to lend his voice to more songs and create more amazing melodies. I wanted to listen to songs from Yes Boss, Badshaah, Josh and even DDLJ (well.. i am not a big fan of the movie).
Then I remembered his attitude problems in the Indian Idol and of course his PJs.. He has absolutely no idea when to shut his big mouth. His attitude must have been a main reason that he is amongst lost talents and hardly has any projects. When you are blessed with such talent, but have a completely messed up attitude, you don’t go anywhere for long.
As quoted by Winston Churchill - "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference."
Some of my favourite quotes (read all of them somewhere at different times but have stuck in my mind) that keep me going :
  •  Our attitude toward life determines life's attitude towards us.
  •  Your aspirations are your possibilities.
  •  A wise girl knows her limits, but a GREAT girl knows SHE HAS NONE. ( not related but I still luv it and had to mention )
People !!!... SMILE.. its costs nothing.
Spread the cheer :)

Sachin ka number kab aayega ???

With so much happening in World Cup Cricket it was unavoidable to blog about it anymore.
To start with....I LUUUUUUUUV Sachin...
He is THE Man in cricket.
To do what he did in the Chennai stadium... maaaaannn.

Probably he answers only to his conscience and cricket. That can be the only reason he walked away. No wonder he is one of the very rare GENTLEMEN in cricket. This is the 6th time Sachin is playing for the Indian team in the World Cup, not once has he complained, not once has he wavered from loyalty for the game, not once has he been in any controversy and that man does not play for his personal gain.....
Can you imagine his feeling...anyone else in his place would have felt let down by the team and would have been crying out loud but this guy is humility personified.
People like Ponting, Sreeshant, Bhajji should take humility lessons from him, well they need to....desperately...That guy has been playing for the team consistently for as long as I remember.

India as a team has not being doing as expected in the field. It has become difficult for the team to even survive the 50 over match in the field and this is not once or twice. I mean C’mon… that’s not acceptable. After the match with England, a friend of mine had a FB status that said something like this "By the time Sachin got out and was changing from his sweats, the rest of the team had also reached the changing room” which is funny because it was NOT an exaggeration. I don’t think India deserves to win the World Cup, before you hit that little cross to exit from the page... i mean I really really really want India to win obviously but I expect them to win in a way that will make us proud and not say " India won because the other team did not play well". I want India to win because India SHOULD have won and because India played awesomely well.
Considering Sachin’s tenure, he will obviously be creating new milestones with every match he plays now. And God only knows how many ages, decades or even more it will take for someone else to even match up to his milestones. Crossing his milestones is a really really really really ( enough reallys ??) long shot. I say this because that combination of dedication, loyalty and passion is rare, very rare.
He is indeed the GOD of cricket and I wish him all the LUCK.
I am praying India wins the Cup not because they deserve to but because they really owe it to Sachin.

Holding Hands Controversy

The other day me, my TP (travel partner and Colleague) and another colleague who happens to be a Lebanon (let’s call him LG: Lebanon Guy) were talking.
LG: Are most Indian men gay?
TP and me: What ????
LG: I have seen a lot of Indian men holding hands and walking. I mean it is weird right.

Then something me and BH had spoken about on our way back from Supermarket occurred to me. It had gone like this :

Me: Hey look, 2 men are holding hands and crossing the road. They look like Mallus.
BH: hmmmmmm
Me: Look there, 2 more Mallu guys holding hands and walking.
BH: so???
Me: Now I am thinking... Most mallu guys hold hands with each other. Ever noticed???
BH: No, Got better things to do than that....
Me (Sticking her tongue out.. ya I still do that): Yeah right....  It’s just a little funny, nothing else.

Coming back to the actual conversation...

TP: Still astounded and not understanding what LG means to say...
Me (Sheepishly smiling and saying): Yes LG, I know what you mean... think you are referring to Mallu guys.
TP (Looking at me shocked): what?????
Me: Yes... Some Mallu guys have this habit of holding hands.
Ohh c'mon... When you see two girls holding hands you don’t judge them, why can't men hold hands just because they want to and not be called gay… Let them be.
LG: So you wouldn’t mind if BH holds hand with other guys ?
(Stuffing hands in pockets) I will say my Hi with hands in my pocket like this hahahaha
Me(saying in my head.. yeah that wouldn’t mean perv lols): Of course BH doesn't hold hands and when he is walking with guys. He has his hands around their shoulder but that seems to be OK with you. You are acting weird now hahahahaha….
TP (still speechless): How come I never noticed ??
LG: Hmmmm true...coming back to my question are those guys straight or do I need to be careful ?
Me: They might be straight or they could be gay. But holding hands absolutely does not mean they ARE gay. And c’mon it’s not as if they will pounce on you if they are gay so stop acting weird.

LG walks away still confused, TP is making up her mind on keeping her eyes open and well me....

I am thinking why are educated people (I have this thing that at least educated people are supposed to have some common sense) still hung up about homosexuals. Of course people like LG are entitled to have their own opinion but so are gays. Who sets the behavioral rules for people? I mean when will people grow out of that stoooooopid mindset and accept and like them for what they are, how they are.
I am all for choosing your partner whom you will be happy with and not bother about their gender, coz in the end it’s your happiness that matter... that’s all that matters, that’s all that should matter.
